Digital commerce is enabling businesses to rethink what they sell, how they sell, and where they sell. Fickle consumer and business buyers have come to expect an intuitive and instantaneous checkout process with multiple payment options. However, aging financial infrastructure and complex interdependencies between numerous parties make it difficult and expensive to accept payments online seamlessly and across markets and currencies. Stripe meets these challenges with an API-based payments platform that abstracts away the complexities around payment gateways, acquiring banks, and credit card networks. To understand the impact of Stripe’s products on processing online payments, IDC interviewed Stripe customers and surveyed hundreds of organizations around the world about how they currently process and manage online payments. KEY FINDINGS • Many organizations are using Stripe as a foundational platform for their online businesses, with many of those also using Stripe Connect to run thei

Banking is rapidly being transformed by one, distinct theme: digital technology. For those leading the charge, there is no longer a distinction between a business strategy and a technology strategy. There is just strategy driven by technology and the client needs it will evolve to continually meet. In this new world, upgrading existing operations and making legacy systems fit new challenges is not going to be enough. To succeed, banks need to become future-ready, connected enterprises, backed by a new type of technology and operating model that is nimble enough to adapt to new challenges and growth opportunities.

Key considerations when developing a strong and customer-friendly approach to intelligent authentication. Bank fraud is on the rise. In fact, according to a recent survey of 43 major banks around the world, it’s not just the number of fraud cases that is going up; so, too, is the value of fraud overall. In large part, this increase in fraud is the result of identity theft scams. Rather than attempting some sort of high-stakes virtual bank heist for all the gold in the vault, most online thieves seem content simply stealing money from every-day customer’s accounts when they aren’t looking.

First Citizens Bank & Trust Company is a chartered commercial bank offering a complete line of financial services. With over 200 point-to-point applications and disparate systems, the bank needed a way to reduce its applications portfolio and streamline integration among systems, including fast integration of systems from newly acquired banks. First Citizens turned to TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks™ and TIBCO® Messaging for their simplicity and ability to quickly get IT processes up and running. With standard services, this transformation resulted in reduced deployment time—from eight months to 18 weeks, resulting in reduced credit card loan project time.

First, today’s digitally oriented customers expect banks to provide an ever-higher quality experience defined by speed and the flexibility to conduct business across many channels. They’ve grown accustomed to going online and transferring money between accounts, for example, and using their mobile device to make payments and check their account balance. These kinds of experiences have raised the bar in terms of customer expectations – and banks need to keep up, or risk losing customers. This is particularly true of millennial customers, as they have little regard for loyalty, which banks have traditionally relied on to build their business. Once frustrated by inconvenience, they don’t hesitate to switch banks – and thanks to the internet, this is now a fast, painless process.

Banks are at an inflection point. According to a recent research by Viacom, 1 in every 3 U.S. consumers are open to switching banks in the next 90 days. Financial services companies need to break through the competition to gain customer trust and loyalty. Building a 360° view of the customer can help banks grow customer retention and loyalty, upsell high margin products and provide compelling interactions. However, this is no easy task as complexity increases when retail banks engage their customers across multiple channels and financial products. Gaining visibility into every customer interaction, across your business silos, and with every engagement channel is critical to making the right decisions to deliver amazing customer experiences. This white paper examines the challenges Financial Services Institutions (FSIs) face when building a 360° view of the customer to transform their customer experience and how to overcome them.

For many financial institutions, traffic from bots (aggregators, scrapers, crawlers) can account for up to 40-60% of their overall website traffic — from good bots engaged in essential business tasks to bad bots performing harmful activities. Banks, traders, asset managers, and insurers might know how much of their traffic is from bots, but what they may not know is the impact those bots may be having on their business. Organizations operating in the retail financial services sector – banks and insurers – need to work smart and fast to keep pace with the increasing demands of their customers. We may have a 24/7 love affair with our smartphones but it is clear that in the future we will be sharing information and making payments via fitbands, cars, TVs and white goods, as the Internet of Things fuses the physical and digital worlds. For incumbent banks and insurers, the challenge will be to leverage the possibilities of this new hyper-connected world to embed themselves in their customers’ daily lives. They need to change the way operate, which includes how they market, engage and communicate with their customer base. This will be a key defense against the growing ranks of digital newcomers seeking to disrupt and dislodge incumbents through an array of innovative and smart new offers. However, too many are moving too slowly, either from an excess of caution or complacency. This report should serve as a

It is no secret banks are losing customers, and fast. A recent Finextra/Pegasystems survey pegs that 78% of banks have lost business in the last 12 months. The question is “Why?”. It all comes down to engaging with customers before, during and even after the sales process. Nearly all banks are struggling with the impact of client due diligence and KYC (know your customer) regulation on their onboarding processes, and are painfully aware that lack of speed, process visibility and repeat data requests are frustrating their corporate customers. The same holds true for service, where corporates are crying out for improvement, as well as omni-channel access and quick turnaround of service requests and inquiries. To stop the sales decline, banks need to begin doing all these things well. They will then be more competitive in the market as well as retain and win new business. Download this research study and gain a better understanding of how banks can better meet the needs of their customers

The attacks and tools being used against financial services organizations are part of a complex ecosystem. This may seem like an obvious statement at first glance. When you read most industry reports, they tend to focus on a single aspect of the whole ecosystem, as if it were unrelated to other types of attacks. To be honest, we’ve been just as guilty of having a myopic view of attack traffic as anyone else. We wanted to do something different for this report. Instead of looking at a single type of attack, we stepped back to look at attacks against banks, credit unions, trading companies, and other organizations that make up financial services as a whole. Most defenders only see a very small segment of the overall traffic, whether they’re the target or the vendor supplying defensive tools. The breadth of Akamai’s products and our visibility into a significant portion of Internet traffic allows us to research multiple stages of the attack economy.
